As well as individual support from specialist staff, we also provide interview practice and additional help with university admissions tests – including specialist Oxbridge and Medicine Preparation Programmes.

Careers Guidance

There is a comprehensive Careers Guidance Programme available to all our Sixth Form students, with easy access to our well-equipped Careers Room and the Careers Staff.

Depending on the Sixth Form pathway chosen, you can benefit from 40-60 days’ work experience with a Grove Business Partner – helping you gain valuable insight.

The Pathway Tutorial Programme

To help our students make their dream for the future a reality, tutor groups are formed according to their career aspirations. Each group is led by a Form Tutor with specialist knowledge in that field. Forms are a mix of Y12 and Y13 pupils, to give students insight into a diverse, enriching range of perspectives.

Our approach means form periods are filled with guest speakers and discussions on the issues relevant our students’ interests. Ultimately, these weekly lessons provide rare and invaluable insight into their future career path, informing their studies and preparing them for interviews and the workplace.

Life Skills Programme

Covering topics like financial planning, first aid and drug awareness, these sessions give pupils vital skills they will be able to call upon in life after Woodhouse Grove.

Every Sixth Form pupils takes part in these fortnightly sessions, some of which are delivered to the whole year group, whilst others are more bespoke or elective, specific to career fields.

Globalbridge

We offer our students a unique, digital profile on the Globalbridge platform – helping them stand out from the competition.

Students can not only upload their academic achievements to the Globalbridge platform, but also a biography, aspirations, photos, sound bites, electronic documents and even video footage showing sporting highlights, drama productions and musical performances.  Profiles can then be shared with universities or employers.

Grovians have access to their Globalbridge profiles for life and so can use the platform as an ongoing record of experiences and achievements, evidencing the development of skills for future life and work.

Rolling Programme

Weekly assemblies not only cover moral and development issues, but also enhance our Tutorial Programme. Guest speakers will talk about topics relevant to all career paths – for example, “The Importance of Networking in the Workplace”. The content is then contextualised for each career field in tutor group discussions.

Every half term, our Sixth Form Team carries out one-to-one academic reviews with students. These help keep pupils on track academically, ensuring they get the most out of their chosen Pathway Programme, as let us respond to any changing future aspirations.
