It is UK Safer Internet Day. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees hundreds of schools and organisations join “Together for a better internet” and raise awareness of online safety issues.

Throughout the course of this week, every pupil at The Grove will participate in assemblies and lessons based on this year’s theme of:

“Our internet, our choice; understanding consent in a digital world’.”

Years 7, 8 and 9 will be focusing on why people share things online and what happens to that information. They will be given advice on how to take and keep control of their personal information.

Years 10 and 11 will be looking at how to better manage their online presence.

Year 12 will be focusing on how their online activity can affect their reputation, negatively or positively, as they seek employment or admission to university.

There are also a wide range of resources available for parents regarding internet safety on the school’s Firefly pages. These can be found at: Resources>Parents>e-safety.

Further online resources can also be found here.
