Netball fever has struck with three Grove teams taking the country by storm, making their mark in National and Regional competitions – and creating school history in the process.

On Saturday 17^th March, the Woodhouse Grove U16s competed in the England Schools National Finals. To get this far was an achievement in itself, with the girls having competed in a number of regional heats to win their place.  Despite the driving snow and temperatures as low as -8°C, the girls stormed through to the semi-finals, winning their first 5 games straight. The U16s finished the competition as the 4^th best school in the country – a fantastic achievement and a new netball high in Woodhouse Grove history.

Inspired and determined, the Woodhouse Grove U13s came runners-up in the Independent Schools National Netball Cup Plate competition on Tuesday 20^th March. The nail-biting final saw The Grove take on Berkhamsted School with Woodhouse Grove leading 14-11, with just 3 minutes remaining. The final score of 21-17 to Berkhamsted demonstrates the intensity and quality of play in the final quarter.

Last, but certainly not least, the U11s from Brontë House, emerged victorious on Friday 9^th March, coming out on top at the North of England Invitational at Newcastle Girls’ High School. They then went on to win the runners-up trophy at the HMC netball tournament on Monday 19^th March.

Our seniors are just about to go on netball tour to New York and the Caribbean – it doesn’t get better than that!
