The transition from Year 6 to Year 7 can be an immensely daunting time for students and parents. At Woodhouse Grove School, we strive to make this transition as comfortable and seamless as possible.
Our students are encouraged to get involved and make friends from the moment they arrive at the Grove. This year, our Activity Day provided students with a structured, but exciting environment to meet their peers and develop new friendships. The selected activities encouraged conversation, teamwork, and required the students to practice listening to others and coming together for a shared goal.

We also understand that the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 is just as daunting for parents. To support our parents as they embark on this period of transition with their child, we recently hosted a Parents’ Information Evening to share with our new parents how we cater to each child’s needs and support them through their time at the Grove.

Parents were invited to three talks, each targeting a vital area of student development at Woodhouse Grove School: academic achievement and tracking progress; pastoral care and supporting each child; and co-curricular involvement, discussing how our co-curricular activities enrich and encourage our students outside of the classroom.

Hosting evenings such as these provides parents with the reassurance that their children are encouraged while at school, and not only are they challenged to achieve their best, but they are also supported and guided by our staff in this venture.
