- A big thank you to Riverside E-Bikes & Cycles for letting guests test ride bikes and learn more about hire and servicing.
- The BBQ and bar were in high demand all day.
- The guided school tours were hugely popular – it was great to see so many exploring the school again.
- The day highlighted the spirit of The Grove community – thank you for joining us and helping make the event such a huge success.

Cricket report:
The annual Leavers XI v Old Grovian T20 match took place in beautiful sunshine on Sunday 29 June, following the leavers service and lunch.
The OGs, as is tradition, won the toss and elected to bat first. The Tennant bothers, Kian and Owen, opened the innings with Kian showing older brother Owen how it is done, scoring a brisk and entertaining 50. Cameos from Oliver Hardaker, James Edgley and James Swarbrigg followed with some powerful hitting getting the OGs up to a score of 190-8 in their twenty overs.
The Leavers XI got off to an entertaining start with Arsalan Khan providing some unorthodox shots before succumbing to Rory Henderson’s accurate bowling. Despite some average fielding, particularly from self-proclaimed specialist slip fielder, Jacob Eaglestone, wickets fell regularly. Elliot Tattersall providing an entertaining innings of 38 before being given out LBW by Mr Barr. This decision was roundly greeted with a chorus of booing from the sideline! Harry Bates then came to the crease and sadly must have thought it was a test match, as he took 15 balls to make his first run, although he displayed some solid technique in defence!
A late flurry of shot making from the Leavers XI “ringer”, Sam Dowsland, propelled the leavers to a respectable 130-8, with Mr Cadman suffering at the hands of Dowsland as he helped himself to 25 from the final over the game, including an audacious reverse sweep. Bailey Worcester gave a masterclass of wicket keeping behind the stumps despite not regularly doing this for his club.
There are plans afoot to try and relaunch the 1st XI vs Old Grovian 50 over Fixture on the Friday before Leavers’ weekend. If there are any OGs out there who would wish to play on either the Friday or Sunday fixture next year, please do get in touch.

Tennis report:
There was a great turnout with 24 players ranging all the way from Year 9 up to our OG’s.
All players were paired up, split into 2 pools and played a round robin in their pool.
The competition ended with a final against the top 2 doubles pairings – B. Vernon & P. Trimby (Year 12) v’s J. Shoesmith-Evans & R. Mitchell (OG’s).
The OG’s came out on top winning 10-7 in a championship tie-break.
Well done to all players, for a fantastic afternoon of tennis.
Mrs K Curtis (st09-)
