It has been a quite extraordinary few weeks for sport at Woodhouse Grove and we couldn’t be more proud of what our young people have achieved.
Our 1st VII have done it again; retaining the Ampleforth 7s trophy in York in what was a superb team performance. Meanwhile our U13 boys made history by becoming the first Woodhouse Grove side ever to reach a National final, competing in the ISFA Bowl Final. They scored early and gave everything; ultimately losing on penalties but the achievement is one the whole school should celebrate.
On the international stage, Sam J in Year 12 represented Scotland U18s against Ireland, a fantastic individual milestone that reflects the talent we have here at the Grove.
Our netball programme has also been in brilliant form. The U18 senior team won the Stonyhurst Invitational Tournament, our U13A girls claimed the St Peter’s Netball Festival title and over at Brontë House, our Year 6 netballers won the Northern round of the IAPS U11 Netball Championships. They now go forward to the National Finals and we’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.
Results matter but what really stands out is the character, commitment and resilience our students showed across every one of these competitions. That’s what being Grovian is all about.
