This year’s Anti-Bullying Week at Woodhouse Grove was a powerful reminder of the strength we find in community and the importance of kindness in everything we do. Acrossall year groups, from Year Seven to Sixth Form, our students and staff came together to celebrate inclusivity and take a stand against bullying.

The week kicked off with the yearly ‘Odd Socks Day’, where the Grove community embraced difference and individuality, demonstrating a visual celebration of the fact that diversity makes us stronger, not weaker.

One of the week’s highlights was our ‘Be the I in Kind’ initiative in the Martin Hall. Students posed with the letters K, N, and D to complete the word, a physical represenation of compassion and kindness. Each participant received an instant camera print as a lasting reminder that they are an essential part of creating a culture of compassion. The excitement and energy in the hall, particularly within our Year Seven students, reflected the genuine enthusiasm our students have for standing up for one another.

Our Year 13 students also visited Brontë House to deliver anti-bullying sessions. These sixth formers showed our younger pupils that looking out for one another isn’t just something we talk about; it’s something we constantly seek to do as Grovians.

Even our dining experience became part of the message, with specially designed anti-bullying cupcakes served at lunch, a sweet reminder that kindness matters in every moment of our day!

Anti-Bullying Week may have concluded, but the message continues. At Woodhouse Grove, we’re committed to ensuring all members of our school community feel safe, valued, and supported. Through initiatives like these, we’re not just preparing our pupils for the world they’ll encounter when they leave school; we empower them to make it better.

I am gracious and generous. I am Grovian.
