Grove Netballers on the National Stage

This season has without doubt been the most successful in the school’s history.

National Cup runs across many year groups and our U19s & U14s making the England Netball Nationals is incredible; it is a very proud time to be involved in Grove Netball and the future is looking bright….

1st VII National Cup Finalists

Our 1st VII squad made school history by reaching the Final of the IS National Cup. They travelled down to Hertfordshire to face Berkhamsted School.  Despite a challenging 1st quarter, the girls did not give up the fight and showed true passion and resilience throughout the whole game. They were 2nd on the day (53:42) but are winners to us.

Cup run success across the year groups

Our amazing 2nd VII reached the Northern semi-final of the SNS U19 Shield, but missed out on a finals place to a very strong 1st team from Cardinal Newman College.  This was a great result for our 2nds who were playing against other school’s 1st VIIs in the competition.

Our U15s reached the last 4 in the U15 SNS Shield which took them to finals day at Loughborough this week; where they ranked 4th in the Shield Competition. Well played girls, what a great experience for them.

England Schools National Finals…

Our U19s and U14s squads qualified through the area and regional rounds and headed to Oundle School to play against the Top 18 schools in the country.  The intense tournament, where games are 14 minutes long, is a battle of skill, fitness and mental resilience as they fight for their ranking within the Top 18.

Our U14s had an excellent day – winning 5 out of 8 of their games. It was so tight in their group and the games that they lost were incredibly close! Congratulations girls on coming 6th= in the Country. We are so proud of this young group of talented athletes and look forward to their next 4 years of Grove Netball.

Our U19s had a great day at National- what a season these girls have had! All the girls in the squad started the school in Y7 (or before) which is a true testament to netball development at the school. They won 4 out of 8 games and England Netball positioned them 7= in the country. They played outstanding netball against the absolute best of the best, on the biggest stage of school netball and should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Both teams gave it absolutely everything on the day.  Thank you to all the players in both squads for your commitment to the National run; every member of the squad played their part in getting us to finals.  You are Grovians. In absolutely every sense of the word and we couldn’t be prouder of you.

Thank you also to our parents for their continued support of Grove Netball and our Nationals kit sponsors Brabners and Bridge-it Housing

Thank you to the coaches for their passion, dedication and belief – we know it means as much to you as it does to them. To Miss Thompson, our Head of Netball, your commitment to netball at The Grove is evident in everything you do. We know that our netball success in recent years is driven by your desire to release the potential of all our girls and to encourage them to achieve their very best.  Thank you.

To all our Year 13 girls who have represented Grove Netball over many years (some since they were 8!) and especially our Captain, Summer Anderson – thank you for your commitment to Grove Netball.  You will all be missed and we hope you continue to play netball wherever your journey after the Grove takes you.

I am an individual, yet I am part of something incredible.
I am Grovian.
