The road to England Netball Nationals 2023….

Following the local round in November all of our National Squads qualified for the Regional round held at EIS Sheffield, on the last weekend in January.

Our U14 squad had a great day but narrowly missed out on qualifying for Nationals, finishing 3rd in the region overall. They just missed out on a place on goal difference. They played a fantastic level of netball in a very competitive age group.

Our U16s had a phenomenal day and finished Yorkshire & Humberside Champions. The U19s qualified following an incredibly intense day and went through to Nationals as second.

The U19s and U16s now ranked in the top 18 schools in the the country headed down to National Finals on 11th March to be held at Oundle School.

It was an incredible day with the best schools in the country fighting it out for their ‘place’ in the country.

We didn’t qualify for the playoffs but all the girls gave it absolutely everything.  We are so incredibly proud that they made it to Nationals and the U19s ranked 13th= in the country and the U16s ranked 9th= after the event.  Both having played the teams that were crowned top in the country.  The U19s won 3 lost 5 – their score against Berhamsted who won the final was a loss 11:6.   The U16s won 3 drew 1 lost 4 – their score against Redmaids’ who won the final was a loss 18:8.

To see both our teams playing against the best teams in the country is incredible. The girls played 8 games within 5 hours in the most intense and highest level of school netball played in the country.  Thank you to our amazing staff for their continued support.

This was the last National run for our Year 13 girls who have had an astonishing Netball journey at The Grove, with a large number of them getting to National finals twice!  We hope that they continue to play netball as they embark on the next stage of their educational journey and we thank them for all that they have achieved for Grove netball.  As true Grovians you have inspired the girls coming through the school and shown them what is possible,  for that we are incredibly grateful.
