Congratulations to the U19 Netball team for progressing to the National School’s Netball Finals! This already puts them in the best 18 teams across the country with all to play for!

They competed in the regional tournament held at EIS Sheffield on Sunday 30th Jan, having previously won the tournament’s first stage back in November 2021 at Bradford Grammar.  Over 300 schools start across the country in the first round of the tournament.

The following was written about the day Miss Georgie Thompson, the school’s Head of Netball and U19’s coach.

We played the following order of play…

V South Hunsley (W15-7)V Wyke (W7-6)

V St Peters (W8-4)

V Greenhead (L8-14) who unfortunately pulled away after halftime.

V QE (W13-12)- we were leading 9-4 at halftime.

Our last game ended up being our must-win match in order to progress through and both us and Queen Ethelburga’s were playing for 2nd Place.

The player of the full tournament as voted by the opposition and umpires was our very own Harriet, who played exceptionally. Such a fantastic achievement and we are all incredibly proud of her, and the team for their performance on the day.

As a result of the weekend, Greenhead and ourselves have gained a place in the National Finals to be held on 13th March at Oundle School, Peterborough.  We will join 17 other teams from across the country to battle it out to win the best U19 team in the country – and we can’t wait!

Good luck girls!

I am an individual, yet I am part of something incredible. I am Grovian.
