We've reached the end of National Apprenticeship Week here at the Grove!
Our students have heard from Old Grovians and external visitors who shared their apprenticeship experiences and highlighted the value of these training programmes.
At the Grove, we're committed to supporting each student's individual path, whether that's A-levels, an apprenticeship, or entering employment. We're here to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

A huge thank you to all the children who joined us for our Year 7 Taster Day yesterday!
We hope they had a great day - we definitely did! It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.
They explored a range of lessons, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and spent the afternoon taking part in activities of their choice. Everything they did was designed to give them a real sense of what life at the Grove is all about - the learning, the fun and the community spirit that makes our school so special. They even helped the Headmaster discover who had stolen the House Cup!
We hope they left inspired, excited and with a real taste of the Grove. It was a delight to have them with us!

Our A-level History students are currently in Munich on a trip to support their study of Germany 1918–45.
Yesterday, they explored the city of Munich, immersing themselves in the setting that played such a pivotal role in the early development of National Socialism, before enjoying dinner at the historic Hofbräuhaus München.
Today, they are visiting the powerful and thought-provoking Nuremberg Rally Grounds, where they will see first-hand the scale and propaganda of the Nazi Party rallies. They will then have the opportunity to explore the historic city of Nuremberg.
Over the coming days, students will also visit the Olympic Village and the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, as well as a range of other museums that will enrich their knowledge and provide powerful context to their studies.
It promises to be an incredibly meaningful experience, bringing their classroom learning vividly to life while encouraging thoughtful reflection on this pivotal period of history.

We were delighted to welcome former England Women’s cricketer and Old Grovian, Kathryn Leng (85–92) back to Woodhouse Grove last week!
Kathryn enjoyed a full school tour before heading pitch-side to the Morton Hall Sports Hall - (a space that, in her time at The Grove, was the swimming pool!) to watch a Year 8 PE lesson of Kwik Cricket. There was plenty of applause for some seriously impressive fast bowling and confident batting.
At lunchtime, Kathryn led an inspiring Q&A with our Year 7 & 8 female cricketers, fielding some fantastic questions, including:
💬 What advice would you give to a young female cricket player?
💬 Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
💬 Where is your favourite place you’ve played cricket?
The visit finished on a high as Kathryn guested on our school podcast 🎙️ Grovian Voices - episode out 20 February.
Huge thanks to Kathryn for an inspiring and memorable visit.

Here at The Grove, we are invested in our students’ futures and supporting them to explore all possible pathways. We ensure that all students are made aware of the wide range of post-school pathways available to them, so they can make informed decisions about their next steps. One of these pathways is apprenticeships. We deliver a programme of talks and information about apprenticeships, including application processes and key deadlines, to ensure students are well informed and prepared.
This week is National Apprenticeship Week, and the school will host a range of talks across assemblies, PSHCE sessions and form time, alongside videos and Q&A opportunities, to further support students in making informed choices about their next steps.
Keep an eye out this week to see what we get up to and how our students are engaging with these opportunities.
