Coffee Morning – Spring 2025
The inaugural Coffee Morning at The Grove was bathed in glorious sunshine, creating the perfect backdrop for a truly memorable gathering. It was a joy to welcome back Old Grovians and former staff, spanning generations from 1935 to 2024 – an incredible blend of history and nostalgia.
A particularly special moment came when we surprised Rex Armitage (35–42), who turned 100 years old in November 2024, with a heartfelt “Happy Birthday” sing-along and a birthday cake, which was enjoyed by all. Rex’s touching speech left an indelible mark on everyone present, making the occasion even more meaningful.
The Headmaster, James Lockwood, thoroughly enjoyed meeting the guests and hearing their stories, adding an extra personal touch to the event. Our guests were also captivated by a selection of archive items on display, sparking lively conversations between Old Grovians, former staff and current members of the school. It was heartwarming to see old friends reconnect after many years, sharing memories and stories.
The Old Grovian merchandise proved to be a big hit, with the ties and the Xaipete 200 yearbook emerging as the top sellers. The new OG 2025 Event selfie frame made its debut, bringing laughter and smiles as it captured moments that will undoubtedly be cherished for years to come.
