Entry into Brontё House and Ashdown Lodge (2-11yrs)

Once you have filled out the application form and paid the application fee (below) and visited the school, it maybe suggested that the pupil attends a Taster day to experience life at Brontё House. A report will be requested from the applicants current school before attending a Taster day. Depending on the age of the child they may be required to sit maths and English tests or have a short interview with the Head.

Please note that the last entry point into Brontё is the beginning of Year 5.

For children applying for Nursery or Reception places, you will be invited to visit Ashdown Lodge and meet with our experienced Early Years team. Once we have received your completed Application Form we will be in touch.

Entry into The Grove in Year 7

We invite all registered pupils for Year 7 to take our Entrance Exams in Maths and English in January. When an application form has been received (and the Application fee paid) we will also apply for a report from the applicant's current school.

Applicants will also receive an invitation to an Interview with a member of our Senior Staff. This allows us to get to know each child individually and may also include an assessment of reading, verbal comprehension skills and numerical abilities.

There is not a fixed pass mark in the exams but applicants must be able to access our curriculum. The Head balances out all the information gathered during the admissions process; the report, entrance exams and interview, when deciding whom to offer places to in accordance with our Admissions policy. The Head must be satisfied that pupils will benefit from the education provided at Woodhouse Grove.

When an offer has been made applicants have the opportunity to attend a Taster day in February, this is a great opportunity to experience life at our school.

We ask that those registering for Year 7 September entry apply by the last day of the Autumn term.

Entry into The Sixth Form at The Grove

Applicants who wish to join us in the Sixth Form have the opportunity to attend a Sixth Form Open Evening. They will then be invited into school to meet Mr Softley, our Assistant Head (Sixth Form & Futures), followed by an invitation to attend our Sixth Form Taster Day.

An offer will be made subject to our entry requirements of at least 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above (including at least a 6/B grade in chosen A level subjects).

Entries into other Year Groups or throughout the academic year

For entries throughout the academic year or for any year group other than Y7 we ask that you contact the school to discuss our application process.
Initially we will invite you to visit the school and fill in our application form and pay our Application fee. Then we will request a report from the applicant’s current school.

Following consideration of the report, children may then be invited to a Taster Day which will include sitting our Entrance Exams in maths and English and an interview with one of our Deputy Heads. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying school life with the appropriate year group. The Admissions process stages vary at times depending on individual circumstances.

If you have any questions regarding our Admissions Process, please contact Jo Amos, Admissions Manager.
