Learning at The Grove – Above and Beyond the Curriculum

At Woodhouse Grove we offer many additional academic experiences above and beyond what is expected on the curriculum.

Pupils are offered opportunities that support and extend their knowledge in many subjects. Examples include: Year 8’s tour of Leeds Armouries; Year 9 interacting on their Enterprise Day; Year 10 attending university STEM days; pupil involvement with Bradford Manufacturing week; and our Sixth Form students attending numerous off-site, subject-specific lectures.

We encourage students to get involved with national events which challenge their current knowledge and give them the ambition to strive further. More than 90 senior school pupils sat the National Maths Challenge earlier this week and we have had continued success in the annual Biology, Physics and Chemistry Olympiads.

In addition, we are fortunate to have a community filled with talented and experienced alumni and parents, many of whom have been willing to share their knowledge and expertise with students through talks and workshops.

Activities such as these contribute greatly to our students’ personal development and help them decide upon their future pathway.

Within our Sixth Form programme, a variety of businesses offer students up to 60 hours work experience as part of our forward thinking Sixth Form Pathways initiative and our work with Globalbridge creates a platform for students to build an online portfolio to assist with university or employer applications.

These are just some of the myriad of ways in which we enhance students’ learning at The Grove. Wherever their interests and ambitions lie, we ensure that every single Grovian leaves here as the very best version of themselves, well prepared for the modern world that awaits them.

I am everything I want to be

I am Grovian.
