Andrew Crawford 1968 – 2023
Woodhouse 1991-2023
It is with profound sadness and deep regret that I announce the death of Andrew Crawford. Andrew sadly passed away in late August, his family have informed us that this was likely caused by some kind of heart failure.
Andrew joined The Grove in 1991, he was a much-loved member of the Music and Maths Department and was Head of Findlay House for many years. He was a loyal and supportive colleague and a good friend to many within the Grovian community; former staff, pupils and parents. His passion for Music was contagious and the legacy he leaves on the school music department and many Old Grovians will be everlasting. I am sure the School and the wider Woodhouse Grove community will need some time to come to terms with this tragically sad news.
In liaison with our Chaplain and the Rev Canon Hilary Barber, Vicar of Halifax Minster, Andrew’s family will be holding a Memorial Service to celebrate Andrew’s life at 4.00 pm on Sunday 08 October at Halifax Minster. This service will give friends and family the opportunity to celebrate Andrew’s life and we are collaborating with the team at Halifax Minster so the school can have a role in the service, along with the many other organisations with which Andrew was involved. All members of the Grove community are welcome to attend this service.
Andrew’s funeral will take place at Halifax Minister on Monday 11 September 2023 at 2.00pm. The school will be represented at the funeral by the Headmaster, Chaplain and a small group of staff, we anticipate a number of former colleagues will also be present.
