National Poetry Day is the annual mass celebration on the first Thursday of October that encourages everyone to enjoy, discover and share poetry.

Perhaps this year, more than any other, a day that celebrates the way in which language can lift us out of the mundane and allow us to view the world in a different way, is a very precious thing indeed.

To celebrate National Poetry Day, here are some poems from Grove pupils who are members of S.O.U.P (Society of Underground Poets).

The next poem was written by an older member of S.O.U.P. about the feeling of anxiety and panic attacks. It takes real courage to lay your feelings bare like this and we are very proud of them for being brave enough to do so.
