Following on from our ‘Poetry by Heart’ school competition, our winner, Georgia Marker (Y12), has won the county heats. Her prize was an all expenses paid trip to the finals at the British Library in London on Saturday. Georgia had a very exciting weekend, with the competition presented by the poet Jacob Sam-La Rose and the actor Freddie Fox. Despite not being the overall winner of the event, Georgia performed brilliantly as she passionately recited Tichborne’s ‘Elegy’ and ‘Mametz Wood’ by Owen Sheers.
Well done Georgia, we are very proud of you!
